What are Points?

What are points? They show up on a user's post info by the rep, join date, post count, etc., but what is it? Is it anything significant or is it just something to blow off and not worry about? Thanks!

I have a feeling that they are the points you get from posting.

That would be one thing. I had 80 points before I wrote this post, so I'll see if they change after I submit. I thought that was what rep and post count was for though.

Nah, rep is for helpful posts. Post count is for how many points you have.

How come I have more posts than points and you both have more points than posts? How do the points really work.

I'm not sure if this is exact, but from what I've noticed, here's what I think points are:

Points are based on the lengthiness of one's post lengthiness. For example, if you like to write long guides or fan-fics, there's a good chance you'll have a lot more points than posts. If you're like me and make about average, quick posts your Points will be about the same as your posts. If you make short posts, or like the Activities Forum, you're gonna have more posts than you do points.

Again, I am not sure if this is exact, but just what I have observed.

Well that makes more since because I think the Activities forum is AWESOME. About half of my posts are from there, but when I write posts outside of there, they always have an explained point. lol.

No. Post length does not matter. It depends what forum you post in. Each forum is a different amount of points.

Thanks for clearing that up Nutty. I finally get it!

Okay - Just altered the points. Popular forums, like the stories, you will get one point. In Activities, the most popular, you don't get any. In unpopular forums you get two.

With the exception of Activities (0), all new threads in any forum is 3 points.
